Sitting along Higgins Stream in Harmony, Maine is the last "mule spun" spinning mill producing fine quality wool yarns in the United States. Bartlettyarns is spun on the "woolen system" for a traditional home spun appearance, softer twist and more bloom than worsted yarns.
This mill has been in continual operation since 1821 and is proud of its strong heritage. Bartlettyarns prides itself in partnering with other small American businesses, such as local sheep producers as well as scouring and dye plants to keep this American product authentic.
Cecily Glowik MacDonald's Apple Cider Donut is simply worked from the top down in one piece in stockinette stitch. The stitches for the collar are then picked up and worked in a very easy reversible cable and rib pattern; the collar can be worn up or folded over. This beautiful sweater is part of a collection from Ysolda Teague. She brings together eleven designer friends to share the sweaters they would wear to Rhinebeck, the site of the New York State Sheep and Wool Festival. Shot on location at the festival, the book is beautifully inspiring, filled with the rich colours and textures of autumn in Upstate New York. Clear patterns in Ysolda’s signature style are included for each design so that you too can make your own special Rhinebeck sweater.
